The level of workers procurement of the public administration in the ministry of young and Jordan sports for media and communication skills

Background & Statement of the problem: The presence of a public relations department within sports institutions with a high level of efficiency helps them achieve their goals and makes them the main spokesperson. However, the majority of our institutions, do not value this aspect, and the public relations at these institutions often takes other forms in which other departments carry out their duties and tasks, as in the case of Ministry of Youth and Sports.
Objectives: This paper aims to identify the level of media and communication skills possessed by public relations (PR) employees in the Jordanian Ministry of Youth, and the impact of educational qualifications and years of experience on these skills.
Methods: The study adopted the descriptive method of survey, then a questionnaire was distributed to a sample of (51) public relations agent. Then, a tool which amounted to (25) items was designed and distributed based on two variables (media skills, communication skills).
Results: The result of the study showed that the possession level of media and communication skills by public relations workers’ point of view, with arithmetic mean (2.33). The result showed no statistically significance difference (α≤0.05) attributed to all variables of study (educational qualifications and years of experience).
Conclusions (Recommendations and contributions): In light of the results, some recommendations were made:
Increasing the interest of Ministry of Youth in preparing written media plans and special budgets for developing the communication and media skills of public relations employees including brochures, bulletins, magazines, receiving delegations, and organizing festivals, events, and conferences. As well as increasing interest in creating or issuing a system that clarifies the duties and responsibilities of the team of public relations and media that keep pace with administrative trends.
