Background & Statement of the problem: This study scrutinized the propaganda methods employed by the Israeli occupation army spokesperson’s TikTok page (Avichai Adraee) following the killing of journalist Shirin Abu Aqla. On May 11, 2022, during coverage of events in the Jenin camp, aimed to distort the image of Palestinian resistance and manipulate public opinion through social media.
Objectives: The Objectives was to assess the influence on Palestinian, Arab, and Muslim audiences, shaping their perceptions to align with the Israeli narrative.
Methods: Employing a descriptive-analytical approach, the study conducted a comprehensive survey and utilized content analysis for seven TikTok video clips where the army spokesperson addressed the killing of journalist Abu Aqla.
Results: The predominant propaganda technique observed was half-truths, constituting 71.42% of all posts and 45.45% of techniques accusing the Palestinian resistance of irresponsible shooting. This technique aimed to distort information, suppress counter-messages, followed by naming names and bright generalities.
Conclusions (Recommendations and contributions): The study proposes determinants and recommendations to enhance research on propaganda discourse, particularly Israeli propaganda. It advocates pressuring Arab media not to host occupation army spokespersons and providing Palestinian spokespersons with regular reports on Israeli propaganda for effective counteraction.
