Background & Statement of the problem: Sustainable development has garnered extensive international attention, leading to its integration into national policies, as exemplified by Algeria’s legal commitment to sustainable practices. This commitment is enshrined in the Algerian Constitution, which serves as the foundational legal framework from which rights and freedoms gain legitimacy. Subsequently, various laws have been enacted to outline the mechanisms for implementing sustainable development. In the context of entrepreneurship, sustainability is particularly crucial, as business success increasingly depends on the ability to balance financial returns with environmental and social responsibilities. Thus, sustainability functions both as an objective and as a means to achieve broader developmental goals.
Objectives: The study aims to clarify the legal framework that underpins the commitment to sustainable practices and to identify key sustainable practices that businesses must adopt to effectively contribute to sustainable development.
Methods: The study employs both descriptive and deductive methodologies to elucidate the legal regulation of sustainable practices as a mandatory obligation within the business environment, as well as to derive judgments and conclusions based on these regulations.
Results: The findings indicate that, despite the significance of the legal provisions governing sustainable practices, the business environment in Algeria has not yet fully engaged in implementing these legal commitments.
Conclusions (Recommendations and contributions): The study concludes that there is a pressing need to assess the current situation and to develop appropriate solutions to enhance the implementation of sustainable practices within the business sector.
