The Impact of Expert systems on Limiting Electronic fraud in Jordanian Commercial Banks

Objectives: This study aimed to identify the impact of expert systems with their dimensions: (knowledge base, inference engine, explanation module, user interface, knowledge acquisition), in limiting electronic fraud by its dimensions (input fraud, processor fraud, computer fraud, data fraud, output fraud) in jordanian commercial banks.
Methodology: The study population represents the (12) Jordanian commercial banks, and the study sample was a random sample of employees working in the banks’ computer department and administrative departments. A questionnaire was designed and distributed to a random sample of 252 bank employees, 210 valid questionnaires were recovered for analysis, and the statistical package SPSS was used for statistical analysis purposes.
Findings: The study concluded that expert systems have a positive effect on limiting electronic fraud in commercial banks in Jordan.
Implications: The study assures the importance of developing and strengthening the internal control systems and updating the procedures and policies followed for verifying identity, and distributing roles and authorities accurately and clearly.
Conclusions: The study suggests that banks need to keep up with technological developments, train employees to detect fraud operations, and make partnerships with technical and financial institutions to develop expert systems.
